4 Comments 0 LikesExciting news!! We did it!
Christmas came early as we received our permit today (12/19/11) - along with the gate key to Mount D. We are officially the FIRST AND ONLY shuttle service approved by the USFS.
However, this access via Mt. Disappointment is only temporary. The ranger informs us that Mueller tunnel is schedule to re-open in February. Once that happens we will discontinue the route via Disappointment.
Speaking of which, passage/shuttle is always subject to weather. Currently, snow is preventing us from reaching the trail head. We hope conditions improve and/or the road gets plowed. Please be aware that this may prevent the van from safely reaching the turn-around.
The trail itself is also in question. As always we encourage responsible and cautious riding. Remember this permit is on a one year trial basis subject to positive feedback.
This is a monumental movement for the MTB community - especially the DH enthusiast who has been falsely stereotyped. As some of you may know, obtaining this permit was not easy. It took 10 months, several meetings and a lot of discussion with the USFS. This valuable partnership with the USFS means upholding the impression that most riders are responsible, respectful and practice good riding etiquette.
I appreciate everyone's patience and support. I’d like to thank the USFS for the opportunity and support in this endeavor. I really believe this is a positive outcome for all parties.
Looking forward to seeing everyone again, as well welcoming our new members.
Now let’s ride!!
